The Almost Normal Life

Well, well, well, the three of us, oh, there's another thing. There's only three of us now. So, as of about a week and a half ago, us four: Chris, Annie, Tim, and I (David), were decreased down to only Chris, Annie, and I (that's one less than four). The reason is as follows. Tim had this girl before he left and when he came over, they still talked and he apparantly fell in love with her and decided he had to go home to her to get married in April in order to be happy. Good luck to him though on that whole ordeal. As a side note, Status of Chris, Annie, and David: Sane; Status of Tim: Insane in the membrane. No offense. As a result, we tried to look for another flat mate to fill in his spot, but after a week, we had no responses and the rent was too high so we had to move out and back into a hostel.

So, we are back in the hostel now for the next two weeks, actually. Good new though, after a day or two in the hostel, last week, we went and looked at a house, here in Wellington. After taking a tour of the house, we decided to take it. It's actually more like a three level townhouse. It is fully furnished, very nice so we don't have to purchase any furniture. On the ground level, we have a garage, (which I doubt we'll be needing for a car) with a washer and dryer. There is also a bedroom with a bathroom. The next level up, with a small patio/grill area in between, we have the kitchen, dining area, and living room. If you then climb the stairs to the top level, you will find the other two bedrooms with a bathroom in between. All in all, the place is really nice and as soon as we move in, I'll post some pictures on my site. One bad thing though, is that we can not move into the place until Nov. 21 and also that it is about a 20 minute walk to town, unlike being in downtown, like I have gotten used to and enjoy.

So, you may say, "David, how do you afford a place like that?" Well, I got a job. I am currently chefing it up at a very nice restaurant called Dockside Restaurant. Right now, I am doing stuff like prep work and expediting dockets so that I can see how the restaurant works and plates look like and then I will train into my position at the fryer doing fried stuff, and some sauteed dishes and soups. Also, when I take a break, the restaurant is directly on a wharf, so I just walk outside and can look out across the entire harbour and bay across to other parts of wellington on the hills. At night it especially looks real great.

So, as you can see, we almost have a normal lifestye now, but can't wait to move out of the hostel and into our house! Not too much else is going on though, no adventurous stuff like jumping off perfectly good ground or a perfectly good plane, plummeting towards earth, for a while. Just everyday stuff like the normal world, I guesse.
